I didn't go to school for web design. I taught myself from scratch — back in 1999, when the internet was still figuring itself out and most small businesses didn't even have a website yet. I was figuring it out right alongside them.
I launched Altera Web in 2005 with a simple belief: small businesses deserve the same quality web presence as the big guys — without the big agency price tag, the layers of account managers, or the feeling that you're just another invoice number.
I got into this business because I love working directly with business owners. No hoops to jump through. No middlemen. Just two people who care about the outcome, working together to get it right.
Over 20 years later, I'm still at it — still self-taught, still adapting to every new platform and technology that comes along, and still doing what I've always done: treating every project like my own business depends on it. Because as a small business owner myself, I know it does.
We've survived the 2008 financial crisis. We survived COVID. And through all of it, 85% of our new clients have come from referrals. Not advertising. Not cold outreach. Just clients who trusted us enough to send the people they care about our way. That's the thing I'm most proud of.
